In my opinion, Bioinformatics can be defined as the application of computational concepts to answer counter-intuitive questions that are relevant to biology, biotechnology and bioengineering. I have just begun my career with really small steps in different research areas. My primary focus has been the study and visualization of conserved gene clusters in multiple genomes. Other areas that interest me include the analysis of tiling array data to infer alternative transcription, function assignment by deriving phylogenetic profiles of gene clusters and prediction of DNA, RNA and small molecule binding sites in proteins.
