  • Research:
My research focuses on the influence of evolutionary dynamics in Timema cristinae (Phamatodea: Timematidae) on ecological properties of the communities of which Timema are a part.

Specifically, I am interested in how divergent adaptation of and gene flow between two ecotypes of T. cristinae affect food web structure and dynamics. How can these evolutionary dynamics influence the strength and topology of trophic linkages between Timema, other arthropods, and plants in the community?

Another interest of mine involves the relative and interactive roles of genetic relatedness and host-plant use (T. cristinae feed primarily on two host-plant species) in determining the community structure of gut microbes.
