The role of antioxidant and marker enzymes of tissue damage and some isozymes of cytochrome P450 as a result of trichloroethylene containing wastewater intake in rat tissues

My thesis investigate the role of antioxidant and marker enzymes of tissue damage and some isozymes of cytochrome P450 as a result of trichloroethylene, heavy metal mixture, ethyl alcohol and trichloroethylene containing wastewater intake in rat tissues as well as the effect of trichloroethylene exposure on Antioxidant system in Allium cepa to find out if the level of these enzymes can be considered as the toxicity biomarkers of these contaminant exposure. Furthermore, mutagenicity of these wastewaters were also estimated by Comet assay, Ames plate test etc. From my work, we have proposed superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione system, ethoxyresorufin-o-deethylase (EROD) and pentoxyresorufin-o-deethylase (PROD) as a biomarker of exposure of these toxicants. My work also reveals genotoxic potential of these wastewaters, which was found to be highly mutagenic.
