  • Research:
My dissertation research examines how Sufi Muslims in India negotiate their identity within the fold of Islam in the face of opposition from Islamic reformist groups. I am particularly interested in how arguments in favour of shrine-based Sufism intersect with the the multiculturalist and secularist rhetorics of the Indian nation-state.
