Cytoplasmic dynein mechanochemical regulation and mechanism.

I have been involved in research on the mechanism and regulation of cytoplasmic dynein for nearly 10 years. My current research revolves around the dynein interacting proteins NudE and Lis1 and how these external factors are able to influence and control the mechanical and enzymatic properties of the dynein motor. In much the same way that we can upgrade and add parts on to our car to change performance characteristics, we find that these proteins change aspects of dyneins motor function when they associate with the motor protein. This is a very novel form of regulation in the motor protein field. I am also interested in basic questions about dyneins motor function from a structural and biophysical perspective.
