The study aims at identifying genes related to pathways and protein-protein interaction networks, which may act as possible candidates for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. In this direction, taking insights from the available literature about the pathophysiology and genetics of neuropsychiatric disorders, we have selected some pathways and novel candidate genes from linkage regions implicated in schizophrenia and bipolar disorders. Case-control and family based association studies were performed with SNPs selected from these genes. Genes showing positive association were then selected and sequenced to find the novel common/ rare variants.
