Research:
My core research is in the field of network security, where I focus on the problem of detecting, analyzing, characterizing anomalous events and responding to these anomalous events in varied application domains. DDoS attack is one such some domain where I have successfully applied my research.
Over the recent years, several research works have been geared towards defending against DDoS problem. A lot of them claim to be best in business in absence of benchmarks, but none of them gives a comprehensive solution, they only deal with some part of the DDoS problem. Moreover these attacks are very dynamic to escape from existing defense systems. With the emergence of sophisticated data collection tools, and massive data repositories, there is a need for solutions that not only detect a wide range of DDoS attacks by simultaneously analyzing heterogeneous data sources, but also provide actionable information to the analysts in real time. Therefore, how to defend against DDoS attacks has become one of the extremely important research issues in the Internet community.
My research focused on developing efficient mechanisms to detect variety of DDoS attacks quickly and accurately to ensure reasonable performance of the network or system under attack.
