  •
  • Degrees:

Ph.D., Cell and Molecular Biology, University of Wisconsin-Madison (Madison, WI)

B.S., Biology, Trinity University (San Antonio, TX)
  •
  • Past Advisors:

    Alexander McPherson (as Senior Scientist)

Scott Singleton (as Post Doctoral Fellow)

Adriana Bailone (as Post Doctoral Fellow)
  •
  • Research:
I explore diversity issues involving Ph.D. scholars in academia.

I publish the premier web portal on the minority postdoctoral experience. This resource on career development, job opportunities, fellowships, and diversity issues serves as a unique channel for reaching this targeted audience. Furthermore, my experience and network positions my consulting services for proactive recruiting of minority Ph.D. talent particularly in the STEM disciplines.

My scientific research involved determining the molecular mechanism by which recombination proteins interact with DNA. My approaches used the techniques of structural biology, biochemistry, biophysics, and bioinformatics.

  • Other Experience:

    2003-present Founder, SACNAS Postdoc Committee

2008 Guest speaker, Introduction to Microbiology, Coastline Community College

2003-2008 Co-founder (with Arti Patel), Diversity Committee, National Postdoctoral Association

2003-2005 Project Director, SACNAS Postdoctoral Career Development Project, funded by Sloan Foundation
