Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (Atlanta, GA)
Research Microbiologist in the Centers for Disease Control, Special Pathogens Branch’s Pathogenesis and Immunology Section. The assignment is to develop a dynamic and independent basic research program to study the pathogenesis and immunopathogenesis of viral hemorrhagic fevers. Knowledge developed is suitable to develop hypotheses to guide the study of the epidemiology and control of these diseases. The assignment includes development of models for immunopathogenic studies, and involves basic and applied research (design, planning, performance, and analysis) to determine the mechanism(s) by which these agents cause severe human disease. Hypotheses to guide this research are developed by interpretation of basic epidemiological studies reported in the literature. After validation in the laboratory, field studies will be designed and implemented to validate the natural relevance of laboratory findings.
