  • Research:
Regulation of amino acid related genes in Gram-positive bacteria through modulation of mRNA secondary structure.

My work in the Henkin lab has been to further develop our model and our understanding of how the T box leader RNA interacts with its cognate tRNA to make the regulatory decision. We use RNAse protection assays, in vitro transcription assays and fluorescence assays to observe changes in structure, tRNA binding and function in wild-type and mutant leader RNAs.
