  • Research:
I am interested in the evolution of gene regulatory networks in development and patterning.

The first of two projects involves an analysis of a new set of enhancers in both DV and AP patterning in the early fly embryo. Each enhancer drives expression in a pattern that seems in some way redundant, as each also has a previously characterized enhancer that drives expression in the same or a very similar pattern. Current work is aimed at investigating possible function of overlapping expression. The second project involves a molecular characterization of compartment boundaries on butterfly (and fly) wings.
