Development of protein coated Biosensors for the detection of pathogenic bacterial species

Our laboratory develops a series of microfluidic devices from PDMS, PMMA and glass that are functionalized with proteins (antibodies). These devices are use for rapid immobilization and enumeration of a targeted bacterial specie. The detection of bacterial species is done via optical or impedance measurements. e.g. we can measure the emission intensity from a organic dye or we can fabricate a series of micro-electrodes to perform impedance spectroscopy.
