My primary research interest involves the naturally ocurring infectious diseases of animal models and their effects on research.

My research efforts are focused on naturally occurring viruses and other infectious diseases of aquatic biomedical research models, including the laboratory zebrafish, Danio rerio. I am also interested in emerging pathogens of laboratory rodents, the design and optimization of molecular diagnostic assays, histopathology of fish and rodent species, and the confounding effects of spontaneous disease and host immune responses in a variety of biomedical research models.
