  • Research:
I am a cardiovascular epidemiologist, particularly interested in studying risk factors for stroke among diverse populations.

I am a cardiovascular epidemiologist, particularly interested in studying risk factors for stroke among women. I have conducted research examining the influence of hormones (e.g. adiponectin and dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate-DHEAS) and nutritional factors (e.g. alcohol) on risk of stroke. I have also studied disparities and the effects of ethnicity on oral health. My long term goal is to focus my research in cardiovascular outcomes among minority populations with a special interest among Latinos and Native Americans.
