One could say that generally, I am a protistologist, interested in the biodiversity and biogeography of marine flagellates and diatoms, with special emphasis on dinoflagellates. After I started working taxonomically with the traditional morpho-species concept about marine benthic, sand-dwelling flagellates (emphasis on dinoflagellates and euglenoids), I broadened my species knowledge to include marine microphytoplankton (emphasis on dinoflagellates and diatoms). I learned molecular phylogenetic methods and gained data contributing to the research about the evolution of dinoflagellates at the University of British Columbia, Canada.
