Household organization of Sonoran Desert prehistoric societies.

MA Research – The Hohokam, cerros de trincheras, village site of Cerro Prieto was surveyed. Research goals focused on a reconstruction of household organization. Methodological approach relied upon an analysis of architectural labor investment and spatial arrangement of dwellings and ancillary architecture. Summary of conclusions indicates little overt wealth display at household level, large disparity in the labor available to households indicative of reliance on variable means of production, minimal internal village centralization, this cerros de trincheras site is subordinate to neighboring mound site in ideological and likely economic interactions.
