Invasive marine fishes have the potential to cause unanticipated community-wide consequences in marine systems. I am currently conducting research on the invasive Indo-Pacific lionfish, and its effects on native coral-reef fish communities in the Bahamas. An examination of such effects can not only serve to deepen our understanding of the interactions between invasive species and invaded communities, but will also, ultimately, improve our ability to manage and conserve marine ecosystems.
