Improving glycolytic flux for glucaric acid production

I'm interested in borrowing tools and methods from traditional engineering disciplines and applying them to the design of biological systems. In particular, with the advent of standardized biological 'parts', a unifying characterization framework which can predict system performance is needed. In developing ways of dynamically redirecting primary metabolite flux for downstream engineering applications, I hope to develop tools that not only aid in system prediction but guide the design process.
