Determining the role of YopK in Yersinia pestis pathogenesis and immunomodulation

I am investigating the role of the Yersinia pestis type three secretion system (T3SS) effector protein YopK during infection and the role the protein plays in immunomodulation. I am doing so using animal infection models and histopathology to determine the cellular recruitment during pneumonic plague and septicemic plague. I am also using cell culture models to look at differential cytokine production during bacterial infection in the absence of YopK.
