  • Research:
I study maternal effects and sex ratio manipulation in birds and mammals

Female birds and mammals can exert some of the most potent influences on offspring before they are even born/hatched. This is an excellent way by which females can prepare offspring for the environment in which they will live, thus optimizing offspring quality and maximizing reproductive success. I am particularly interested in how exposure to maternal hormones can influence offspring sex and permanently imprint offspring growth and immunological function.
