I have a broad range of interests in behavioral ecology and I am specifically interested in using integrative approaches to study the distribution and spatially-explicit foraging ecology of upper-trophic level marine predators. Specifically, my research interests include the influence of resource and oceanographic variability on the foraging ecology and biogeographic patterns of pinnipeds. My recent work has focused on the influence of resource pulses and prey dynamics on the distribution, foraging ecology, and diving behavior of harbor seals and Steller sea lions in Alaska. I am also interested in the influence of landscape-level processes including deglaciation and subsequent marine succession on the ecology of pinnipeds.
