  • Research:
Implementing mathematical models of cardiovascular physiology to explore the molecular mechanisms that underly vascular stiffening and aging.

My research objective is to explore the molecular basis of vascular aging with respect to the hormone, relaxin. In previous work, I have studied mathematical models of strain energy function for isolated vessels to develop an appropriate model of quantification in mouse small renal arteries. Also, I have worked with mouse aorta pressure-diameter changes as a result of atherosclerosis and vascular stiffening as it relates to systemic lupus erythematosus.
