  • Research:
I study innate immunity in C. elegans during infection by Enterococcus, a Gram-positive, opportunistic bacterial pathogen.

I am interested in studying innate immunity in the context of host-pathogen interactions, using a C. elegans infection model. C. elegans is vulnerable to infection by Enterococcus spp. that also cause life-threatening human infections. I am currently performing a genetic analysis of Enterococcus infection in C. elegans that may reveal novel, evolutionarily-conserved pathways that may be of therapeutic relevance, as well as biological significance.
