  • Research:
Antibacterial activity of medicinal plants from the Mediterranean

I am an ethnobotanist and ethnopharmacologist. My research focus is on the traditional use of plants and animals in the Mediterranean, specifically in Italy at the moment. I also study the antibacterial properties of natural products extracted from medicinal plants. My doctoral work was focused on the identification and antibacterial evaluation of medicinal plants used to treat skin disease. I am particularly interested in studying the activity of natural products against multi-drug resistant Staphylococcus aureus infections. My post doctoral work is focused on the assessment of anti-biofilm activity of certain plant extracts against S. aureus using in vivo infection models.
