Research:
Structural studies of human integral membrane proteins (hIMPs) in solution using cell-free expression and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy

My research is focusing on structure determination of hIMPs by using the synergy of preprarative scale cell-free expression of hIMPs and high field solution NMR spectroscopy. Protein expression is based on an individual highly customizable E. coli based cell-free expression system that produces mg amounts of hIMPs. Structural studies are performed by optimized labeling strategies in combination with standard NMR techniques for efficient NMR assignment. Structural information is obtained from pramagnetic relaxation enhancement (PRE) data.
