This pre-college research study is all about determining the mercury level of the fish, water and soil samples from Agusan Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary. This sanctuary is located in the province of Agusan del Sur which covers a total land area of 110, 000 hectares and is now considered as "Wetland of International Importance" by the Ramsar Convention. This Sanctuary is the home of pristine species of flora and fauna from different parts of the globe. Yet, due to small scale illegal minings, this refuge of migratory birds and local fauna is at stake due to Mercury contamination.
