Brigham and Women's Hospital (Boston, MA)
I am a physician-scientist in the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Division of the Department of Internal Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. My specific areas of research interest are the resolution of lung inflammation and injury. In particular, we are identifying endogenous regulators of the severity and duration of innate and adaptive immune responses in the lung. We are establishing molecular signaling circuits in the lung that promote resolution with a major focus on polyisoprenyl phosphates and select fatty acid metabolites (derived from arachidonic, docosahexaenoic or eicosapentaenoic acids). In addition, we are linking these basic observations to the genesis of human illness in translational investigations to gain a molecular understanding of pathobiology and to use these insights towards new therapeutic strategies for refractory lung diseases, such as acute lung injury, asthma and COPD.
